The Honey and the Bee: But there's no rules telling me not to!

So people are clamoring for us to add a “You cannot trace” rule to the custom wearables page. People apparently “didn’t know” that was a rule.

I’m sorry, but… what?

First of all, it’s in the site rules and terms that you agree to every time you play the game. So… don’t say you didn’t know it’s a…

Thats fine and dandy if you take a nice broad look at it. Kind of like saying j-walking is illegal and citing a guy because he ran across the street to save a puppy. Now I’m not saying Elestrials artwork is saving puppies but you cant blanket things under a generality. It was a mistake, nothing more. If she would have known it would have caused a controversy she would have gladly and without complaint changed it and painted it into something else. And make NO mistake, this is the ONLY thing she has traced because she enjoyed the look of these flowers so much.

And as for trying to claim the artwork as her own? Please refrain from making gigantic assumptions unless you know the entire story. She was completely upfront with submitting these items, sending the reference image and explaining what she did and why.

The bottom line is the Subeta administration is completely off base here. A first time offense on something as trivial as this is absurd to freeze someone permanently over it. It gives the impression that the administration was just eager and looking for a chance. A warning would have resolved the issue forever, not that any of you will find out because Subeta decided to not wait and see and just hand out perm-freezes because someone sneezed in church.

And to sit there and try and insult someone because of this is again, absurd. It really says a lot about your character to be honest, not hers.

I’m sorry, but art theft is serious -no matter what site you are on-. Tracing is serious. Stealing is serious. We’ve had other people frozen (Centurymon, anyone?) for tracing Subeta artwork and reselling it as their own. We’ve had other custom wearable artists frozen because they traced artwork. Some people TRACED REAL LIFE OBJECTS. They’ve all gotten the same treatment - to be frozen.

Like I said - if a user had taken someone’s personal drawing, traced it, and tried to sell it as their own, people would be in an uproar. This isn’t any different.

And before you try to tell me to “refrain from saying anything until I know the entire story” - considering I was the staff member talking to Elestrial via ticket, I think I know quite a bit of ‘the entire story’, thanks.

It was a mistake, nothing more. If she would have known it would have caused a controversy she would have gladly and without complaint changed it and painted it into something else.

I guess I’m a naive bitch, because I still don’t understand how someone who is an artist could seriously think, even for a second, “I like this so much I’m going to trace it!”

And I guess I just fail to understand how so many people can think it’s okay.

I think you hit the nail pretty squarely on the head calling yourself a naive bitch.

Well aren’t you just adorable!
